  • Recognise and diagnose emergent and urgent retinal conditions that require immediate treatment, commence initial management and develop an appropriate referral pattern for urgent retinal disease.
  • Understand which conditions and when are intravitreal injections indicated.
  • Understand the different intravitreal agents available and how intravitreal injections are given. Understand the potential major and minor complications of intravitreal injections, and how to manage some of these.
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of endophthalmitis.
  • Understand the suitability of patients for different cataract surgery lens options.
  • Understand what factors pre surgery can affect the optical outcome.
  • The role of the Optometrist in managing patient expectations and refractive outcomes.
