Learning Objectives

  • At the completion of the CPD activity participants should be able to have higher diagnostic confidence in suspecting subclnical disease
  • At the completion of the CPD activity participants should be have increased awareness of the key role of corneal Tomography in the diagnosis and monitoring of early Keratoconus or regular high astigmatism and why adoption and medicare item numbers for Optometric and Ophthalmic use is key to improving the outlook for all
  • At the completion of the CPD activity participants should be confident that No asitgmatism does not rule out keratoconus but high astigmatism should scream keratoconus until tomography tells you otherwise
  • At the completion of the CPD activity participants should be have increased awareness of the ethic and cultural hurdles to the provision of keratoconus services and why closing the healthcare GAP for Keratoconus patients is important for the individual and for society at large.
  • At the completion of the CPD activity participants should have an enhanced awareness of the contact lens options for use across the spectrum of Keratoconus
  • At the completion of the CPD activity participants should have a greater awareness of the role of corneal laser reshaping in the visual rehabilitation of Keratoconus as well as the evolving role for laser assisted corneal stroma addition technologies
  • At the completion of the CPD activity participants should have greater confidence in the role of modern laser assisted corneal transplants for the visual rehabilitations of patients and where the current benefits and pitfalls of this new technology
