Activity Outline

We are thrilled to be hosting our SWVI Annual Education Evening for 2025!

This special event will feature insightful educational presentations delivered by some of our esteemed doctors - Dr Deepa Viswanathan, Dr Rahul Dubey, Dr Shweta Kaushik & Dr Ethan Nguyen, providing a wonderful opportunity to learn, connect, and grow together as a community.

Dinner will be provided for all attendees. We look forward to seeing you there!


Learning Objectives

  • Confidently categorise vitreoretinal conditions and their urgency of treatment.
  • Identify characteristics on macular OCT
  • Understand stages of retinal surgery
  • Suspect and diagnose atypical or co-existent anterior segment pathology
  • Understand some systemic associations for anterior segment presentations
  • Arrange appropriate referral for unusual or difficult anterior segment cases
  • Identify various MIGS post operatively
  • Recognise when a patient might benefit from one
  • Recognise some of the common issues that they may cause
  • Recognise the clinical presentation of a corneal abscess, acute angle closure glaucoma, uveitis, scleritis, corneal abrasion and an ocular foreign body
  • Confidently identify the clinical presentations of red eye presentations such as conjunctivitis and subconjunctival haemorrhage
  • Identify risk factors for red eye emergencies including potential causative organisms or mechanisms
  • Understand how and when to refer patients with red eye emergencies
  • Understand the early clinical management of red eye presentations that can be instituted by optometrists
