Learning Objectives
- At the completion of this presentation optometrists will have an a thorough understanding of the OCT and it's mechanisms of how it works.
- At the completion of this presentation, optometrists will be able to identify the differences between normal looking anatomy of the retina and an abnormal retina, including haemorrhages.
- Optometrists will be able to identify and differentially diagnose various pathologies and retinal conditions by identifying key features of common and uncommon retinal conditions.
- At the completion of this presentation optometrists will be able to differentially diagnose and identify the differences between exudates and drusen, all by interpreting an OCT image.
- At the completion of this presentation optometrists will be able to identify key features, signs and symptoms of endophthalmitis
- Optometrists will be able to asses and diagnose patients presenting with various symptoms by having an understanding of various eye conditions and their common symptoms by discussing case studies, for example herpes simplex, intracranial hypertension, orbital cellulitis etc.
- At the completion of this presentation optometrists will be provided good clinical guidance of how to manage and provide care to those emergency patients in the optometric consulting room, for example ocular chemical injuries and/or foreign bodies
