Optometry Australia has released its 2015-2016 Annual Report.
The report highlights Optometry Australia’s core role to lead the profession to ensure optometrists are well positioned to meet the growing primary eye health and vision care needs of the Australian community. The organisation does this in various ways through advocacy, submissions and collaboration within the Australian health-care sector.
Former president Kate Gifford said she was particularly proud of the wide variety of carefully curated services and programs that Optometry Australia offered its members. She gave examples of how the organisation leads, engages and promotes the profession.
CEO Genevieve Quilty reported that for the first time, all states adopted a shared strategic plan ensuring that work across the seven organisations was guided by consistent core strategic objectives aimed at meeting growing community eye health needs as well as strengthening and positioning the profession to undertake this key work with patients at its centre.
