Activity Outline

The Optometry education event will feature a diverse range of topics presented by experts in the field of Ophthalmology & Optometry. Each session is structured with clear learning objectives to guide participants' understanding and application of the presented material.

Dr Peter Sumich will discuss the relevance of Multifocal IOLs and Monovision in light of emerging Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) technologies, questioning whether they can coexist or if one should phase out the other. The discussion on multifocal IOLs, Monovision, and EDOF technology aimed to familiarise attendees with emerging EDOF technologies, optimal applications of monovision, and the roles of optometrists in patient management.

Dr Ridia Lim will delve into non-IOP glaucoma risk factors and management, emphasizing evidence-based approaches to supplement traditional intraocular pressure considerations. Exploring non-IOP glaucoma risk factors and management, participants will delve into the potential benefits of supplements for glaucoma patients, factors to avoid, and lifestyle considerations

Dry Eye Management will be the core of Dr Diana Farlow’s presentation, offering insights into upcoming developments in 2024. Attendees gained the ability to distinguish between various dry eye syndromes, assess tear film quality, choose appropriate diagnostic tests, and tailor treatment strategies accordingly. Differentiation of dry eye syndromes, tear film assessment, appropriate use of diagnostic tests, and knowledge of treatment modalities.

Our Guest speaker Astha Rai, will address the issue of combating the myopia epidemic, exploring effective strategies, potential pitfalls, and innovative solutions. Highlighting the importance of outdoor activities in reducing myopia risk, along with advancements in innovative optical solutions. Additionally, emphasise promoting visual hygiene and staying updated on cutting-edge research and treatments.

  • At the completion of the meeting participants will be able to Understand the difference between subjective and objective methods of monitoring myopia control treatment efficacy.
  • At the completion of the meeting participants will be able to Learn from myopia control case studies in clinical practice.
