Applying AI to optometry with Andrew Turpin
What exactly is AI? Computer scientist Andrew Turpin will be the keynote speaker at Optometry Virtually Connected in June, where he will speak about AI and data in eye care.
During the 2018-2021 strategic period, we focused on delivering projects and building frameworks to future proof optometry in Australia. Of utmost importance to us was not only ensuring that optometrists are well placed to meet changing community eye health and vision care needs, but that optometrists are well positioned to take control of their future.
At the same time, we concentrated on strengthening our already comprehensive range of member services to ensure that we are delivering the support that our members need in relation to clinical and practice management and professional development. This saw us introduce a range of new member initiatives and enhanced communications, engagement channels and tools to deliver members information even more quickly and efficiently.
Organisationally, we continued to implement processes to prudently manage our finances and to streamline our overheads, such as restructuring our operations, closing underperforming ventures and reducing duplication, with the goal of diverting funds to member service delivery.
Our FY2018-2021 Report Card reflects the major achievements that our organisation has delivered over the past three years. It represents an extensive list of amazing outcomes which we are very proud to have accomplished for our members and on behalf of the optometry sector.
In the spirit of reconciliation Optometry Australia acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
