Career Break Membership

Optometry NSW/ACT recognises that you may wish to take a break from the optometry industry without losing touch with your profession.

Career Break Membership is a highly-subsidised membership option for optometrists taking a complete break from work in the optometry industry for a minimum of 6 months (monthly fee payments only).

It was developed to cater to the needs of those members who may not be working in or deriving any income from the optometry profession for a variety of reasons including full-time parental leave, carer’s leave, extended overseas stay or full-time study in another discipline.

Optometry NSW/ACT Career Break membership costs $29 per month (payable monthly) and includes the following benefits:

  • access to our extensive CPD program and OBA compliant CPD learning plan
  • support with returning to work after a break
  • mentoring opportunities
  • regular industry updates

There are some important conditions laid out in the application form.

Please email the completed, saved application form to vision@oaansw.com.au.

While eye health was not specifically referenced in the Budget Papers, several priorities align closely with Optometry Australia advocacy agenda.
