AAOO Rodenstock Advanced Ophthalmic Optics 1- Webinar

Date: 29/09/2020 - 30/09/2020

Venue: Rodenstock Thailand Lam Prathew Lat Krabang Bangkok, Thailand

Provider: Academy of Advanced Ophthalmic Optics

Contact: Thao Hannaford, [E] thao@aaoo.net.au, [P] 0414 634 965

Learning Objectives

  • Ophthalmic optics (2 hours) On completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 1. Understand the principles of ophthalmic optics and how this will affect the performance of a lens 2. Learn how to calculate these principles to minimise adverse performance of a lens on a patient's visual performance 3. Able to demonstrate they can use ophthalmic optics to troubleshoot and solve cases where a lens performance has failed for a patient
  • Prism (1 hour) On completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 1. Recognise how prism can be used in practice 2. Understand the considerations required to successfully prescribed prism 3. Able to demonstrate they can troubleshoot prism cases and solve cases where a lens performance has failed for a patient
  • Aspheric lenses (1 hour) On completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 1. Understand what an aspheric lens is and how to calculate its properties 2. Demonstrate the best practice method for fitting aspheric lenses for patients 3. Able to demonstrate they can troubleshoot and solve cases where an aspheric lens performance has failed for a patient
  • Advanced lens and PAL selection (2 hours) On completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 1. Understand the differences between PAL designs and occupational lenses 2. Select the appropriate lens design according to the patient's needs 3. Able to demonstrate they can troubleshoot and solve cases where a PAL or occupational lens performance has failed for a patient
  • Predicting lens performance (3 hours) On completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 1. Understand the various types of lenses available and how to calculate its properties 2. Select the appropriate lens designs according to the patient's needs 3. Able to demonstrate they can troubleshoot and solve cases where a lens performance has failed for a patient
  • Measurement compensations (3 hours) On completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 1. Understand the lens compensations required and how to calculate them to optimise visual performance 2. Understand the frame compensations required and how to calculate them to optimise visual performance 3. Able to demonstrate they can troubleshoot and solve cases where measurement compensations have not been made and the performance of a lens has failed for a patient
  • Biometry and Optics (1 hour) On completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 1. Understand the important of eye biometry in lens calculations 2. Understand the boundary conditions for applicability of eye biometry of the DNEye Scanner 3. Able to demonstrate they can apply biometric data during clinical practice to solve a patients’ visual problem
