Learning Objectives
- • To describe the range of surgical options to correct high ammetropia in young adults
• To compare and contrast both lens and corneal based approaches to refractive surgery
• To understand the indications and contraindications of Phakic IOLs
• To highlight important areas of patient counselling in patients undergoing phakic IOL implantation
• To understand post-operative clinical management of phakic IOLs for the Optometrist
- 1. To correctly identify common retinal and choroidal lesions that are found on routine screening
2. To understand the role of multimodal imaging in distinguishing between these lesions
- 1. Understand the mechanisms of uveitic glaucoma
2. Participants should be aware of the type of medications which are
relatively contraindicated in uveitic glaucoma
3. Understand the algorithm in glaucoma management during pregnancy
4. Participants should have an understanding of the categories of
medications which may be used during pregnancy
- 1. Learn about co-management of laser refractive eye surgery patients including signs and symptoms
2. Common questions and queries patients may have post operatively
- 1. Be aware of the systemic conditions associated with keratoconus
