Learning Objectives

  • understand what information the ophthalmologist uses to choose a patient's IOL
  • feel confident about writing a referral for cataract surgery
  • understand that patient satisfaction needs to be managed from the beginning
  • inform the patient the IOL options available and emerging, and who may suit what
  • Have increased confidence in assessing patients with narrow angles
  • describe to a patient how an iStent is inserted and how it works
  • have increased confidence in differentiating retinal lesions and using ocular imaging to help with this
  • Identify signs of ocular conditions which can rapidly deteriorate without intervention
