Optometry Australia members, located in Brisbane, are invited to attend a therapeutic and interactive CPD evening with ophthalmologist (and former optometrist!) Dr Lee Holland and fellow ECO optometrist Cassy Versteeg.

Join us at The Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill, to discuss case presentations that exhibit multi-disciplinary collaborative care. Bring your curly cases and any questions around career progression and expanding scope of practice.

Cassy VersteegThis presentation will detail potential avenues to enter Clinical Optometry and outline the role of Clinical Optometrists in an Ophthalmology Practice. It will touch on co-management with ophthalmologists and the unique aspects this field of optometry brings.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Dr Lee Holland
FRANZCO, CertLRS, MBBS, BAppSci (Optom) 

Dr Lee Holland is a Cornea, Cataract, Refractive and Glaucoma surgeon at the Queensland Eye Institute.Dr Holland completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Optometry) at Queensland University of Technology where he was awarded a University medal.  He enjoyed 5 years as a community optometrist before completing his medical degree at the University of Queensland.

Following completion of Specialist Ophthalmology training in Queensland he was awarded the Topham Scholarship and moved with his family to the UK to undertake two prestigious fellowships.  He completed a Fellowship in Corneal and Anterior Segment Surgery at the Bristol Eye Hospital after completion of his Glaucoma Fellowship at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.  Whilst overseas he successfully completed the UK Royal College of Ophthalmologists examination for Certification in Laser and Refractive Surgery (CertLRS).

His interests include cataract, corneal and refractive surgery.  He offers a comprehensive spectrum of anterior segment surgery including all types of corneal transplants, corneal cross-linking, pterygium excision, and glaucoma surgery including Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS).

Cassy Versteeg
MOptom, BVisSci 

Cassy is a Clinical Optometrist at Queensland Eye Institute. She graduated from QUT in 2020 and has experience working in independent retail optometry. Cassy has a keen interest in the therapeutic management of ocular conditions and enjoys the challenges Optometry brings. Currently, Cassy is working at Queensland Eye Institute alongside Dr Brendan Cronin and Dr David Gunn and is hoping to shed some light on the world of Clinical Optometry tonight.
