![]() Rebekah Hopps
Rebekah is a therapeutically endorsed optometrist practicing with Adelaide-based ophthalmology clinic Eye Surgeons SA. She completed her studies at Flinders University in 2015, graduating as Dux of her class and receiving the Academic Excellence Prize. She worked initially with OPSM in both metro and rural practices before joining Eye Surgeons SA in Feb 2017 with ophthalmologist Dr Paul Athanasiov. Rebekah conducts her own clinics with ophthalmology support as required across Adelaide as the Senior Clinical Optometrist after completing a fellowship-type role for the first 12 months to gain extra training, specifically in the management of Ophthalmic patients with glaucoma, anterior eye disease and pre- and post-operative management. Her role also includes triaging all patient referrals and liaison with local optometrists to enhance patient care. More recently she has completed a Webcast with Optometry Australia and enjoys sharing her clinical experiences with her fellow optometrists. She has recently accepted a new position at Adelaide Eye Care in Westbourne Park. |
![]() Dr Paul Athanasiov
Dr Paul Athanasiov completed Medical School and Specialist Ophthalmic Training in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
He undertook further post-graduate studies including a Masters of Ophthalmology and a Masters of Ophthalmic Science and has produced many international publications, primarily in the area of cataract surgery.
He completed a fellowship in Cornea and Complex Anterior Segment Surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2013 and has since been the principal Ophthalmologist at Eye Surgeons SA, with practice locations in North Adelaide, Windsor Gardens, Tennyson Center, Central Districts and Whyalla.
Particular surgical interest include Cataract and refractive surgery, Pterygium surgery and Corneal Grafting.
