Learning Objectives
- Participants should be able to describe and understand the different types of intraocular lenses (IOLs) available in the market for cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange.
- Participants should be able to stay up to date with emerging intraocular lens technologies and their potential benefits for patients.
- Participants should be able to understand the role of corneal topography, pupillography and lens technology for identifying an appropriate IOL for cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange.
- Participants should be able to evaluate the outcomes of SMILE surgery using the VisuMax 800 laser and compare them to other laser vision correction procedures, such as LASIK.
- Participants should be able to define the benefits and features of SMILE laser surgery and the role of the VisuMax 800 laser in this procedure.
- Participants understand the differences and benefits of transepithelial collagen cross-linking compared with Dresden protocol of cross-linking.
- Participants should be able to revise the pathogenesis of glaucoma.
- Participants should be able to identify and understand the visual field defects experienced by glaucoma sufferers.
- Participants should be able to appreciate and understand the value of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in the diagnosis of glaucoma.
