Learning Objectives
- To evaluate Fuchs clinically: Symptoms, signs and risk factors for poor surgical outcomes
- To evaluate the therapeutic value of various topical medications both pre and postoperatively that postiviely and negatively impacts graft avoidance, graft survival and the final level of functional vision
- To understand the evidence base behind the choice of operation for a patient with Fuch's corneal endothelial dystrophy undergoing corneal transplantation. The evidence base behind why the vision outcomes differ when an Optometrist refers a patient with combined cataract and Fuchs to a Corneal Surgeon or a cataract Surgeon.
- To review several unusual clinical cases that have therapeutic prescribing implications
- To review the range of corneal and ocular surface diseases for which the Z8 corneal femtosecond laser has a useful adjuctive place and wherre it can deliver enhanced outcomes over standard manual surgery
