Activity Outline

What is quality of life (QoL)? One person may define QoL according to wealth or satisfaction with life; another in terms of capabilities – the ability to live a good life in terms of emotional and physical wellbeing. As health care practitioners, we’re concerned with the latter; we’re trying to maximise the emotional and physical wellbeing of our patients. You could say we’re ambassadors of QoL and this is no more apparent than in the way we manage keratoconus.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the symptoms, signs, and complexities of keratoconus
  • Realise the impact of keratoconus on patients’ quality of life
  • Be aware of clinical techniques and tools to diagnose, measure severity and progression of keratoconus
  • Be aware of the limitations and risks when using contact lenses to treat keratoconus
