Learning Objectives

  • To be able to examine patients with vertical diplopia and formulate a differential diagnosis.
  • To know the common causes of vertical diplopia.
  • To understand the management of different causes of vertical diplopia.
  • To know the different lens choices available to cataract patients.
  • To understand technological advances in cataract surgery including femtosecond laser assisted surgery and Verion Technology.
  • To understand the clinical management of difficult cataract cases.
  • To understand the characteristics of common types of infantile and childhood nystagmus and formulate a diagnosis.
  • To be aware of underlying causes and when it is necessary to investigate and /or refer.
  • To be aware of management options to maximise vision.
  • To be aware of the recent research in myopia control, efficacy of control interventions and the expanding portfolio of treatment options.
  • To understand the management strategies for allergic eye disease including topical immunomodulator treatment and immunotherapy for more severe disease
  • To be aware of treatment options for glaucoma patients.
