  • Recognise the urgency of immediate treatment of chemical burns.
  • Understand the principles of treatment of persistent epithelial defect.
  • Understand the phases of management after chemical burn.
  • Identify red flags in a patient with apparent optic disc swelling.
  • Awareness of the differential diagnosis of optic disc swelling.
  • Understand the modalities that aid in differentiating true disc swelling from pseudopapilloedema.
  • Understand management of diabetic macular oedema.
  • Understand management of proliferative diabetic retinopathy including vitreous haemorrhage.
  • Review screening protocols for diabetic retinopathy and follow up for different grades of diabetic retinopathy.
  • Most common cause of homonymous hemianaopia is stroke.
  • Currently, the rehabilitation that aims to restore visual fields is a static exercise and is limited in its capacity to improve visual field defects.
  • This novel dynamic rehabilitation method may have the potential to lead to a greater recovery of homonymous hemianopias from not only strokes but from other causes as well.
