Learning Objectives

  • Dr Michael Giblin will host the evening, explain how the clinic operates, what specialties are available and introduce each of the 5 speaking Ophthalmologists. Participants are expected to learn about the clinic and the range of services available. At the completion of this CPD activity, participants should be confident in knowing what is provided at Chatswood Eye Specialists.
  • Dr Geoff Wilschek will hold the rapid fire oculoplastics session covering topics such as epiblepharon, upper lid ptosis and upper lid reductions. The participants are expected to learn about these topics and answer some multiple choice questions. At the end of the CPD activity, participants should be able to recognise and answer questions about epiblephron in the clinic, common questions about ptosis and know when to refer patients to specialists.
  • Dr Leanne Lim will speak about Ocular Oncology. Learning objectives/ participants are expected to learn: 1. Identify clinical features of important ocular oncology presentations 2. Learn management of common ocular oncology entities 3. Discuss referral guidelines for patients with ocular oncology presentations At the completion of the CPD activity the participants should be able to answer a range of multiple choice questions for example common, iris lesions, intraocular tumors,
  • Dr Gaurav Bhardwarj' s talk is titled 'Epiretinal membranes - referral guidelines and management'. Learning objectives: 1. Learn about the pathophysiology of epiretinal membrane 2. DIscuss referral guidelines for patients with ERM 3. Identify characteristics and grading of ERMs on OCT At the completion of this activity the optometrists should be able to answer multiple questions about causes of ERM, symptoms and treatment.
  • Dr Katherine Masselos talk is titled 'Tips for Visual Field Interpretation ' Learning Objectives are to recognise common field defects, discuss interesting cases. At the end of this CPD activity the optometrists should be able to sudden and unexpected change in visual field , artifects and times to refer on.
  • Associate Professor Ian Francis's talk is titled' Headaches : the good, the bad, the very bad and the ugly.' B. Learning Objectives: 1. Having heard this talk, the Optometrist should feel confident in making a reasonable diagnosis regarding the presenting patient’s headache type. The Optometrist must accept that achieving this required diagnosis may require more than spending 7.5 minutes per patient.
