"May the FORCE be with you."

Learning Objectives

  • 1.Master OrthoK lens design and fitting: optimise outcomes, troubleshoot with ROL/MRx, and manage fits. Learn how fluid forces reshape the cornea, affecting vision and treatment success. Explore lens power’s impact on life quality. Gain insights into software workflows, corneal anatomy, and topography-based design. Understand instrument differences, HOA causes, and control strategies. Build confidence in aberration control and long-term wearer care.
  • 3. Advanced Workshop. Gain comprehensive knowledge in orthokeratology lens design, including key indications and considerations for successful fitting. Develop skills to troubleshoot common challenges and undesirable visual outcomes in real-world patients. Explore advanced cases and core concepts in lens design, with a focus on optimising myopia control through tailored lens parameters.
  • 4. Learn to design orthokeratology lenses with precision, understanding key indications and fitting considerations. Develop effective troubleshooting strategies for suboptimal outcomes, including real-world vision issues. Explore advanced cases and critical design concepts, with a focus on optimising lens parameters for enhanced myopia control and long-term success.
  • 5. Understand high, pathological, and syndromic myopia, including related syndromes and treatment options. Explore control mechanisms, choroidal responses to defocus, and their impact on ocular health and quality of life. Review 2025 prevalence projections and public health risks, stressing early paediatric intervention and adult-onset progression. Embrace interprofessional collaboration, co-management, and communication. A Jedi council of eye care strengthens continuity and outcomes.
  • 9. Understand A.R.R.E.S.T. and S.T.O.P. principles for structured myopia care. Distinguish real vs. perceived efficacy and project long-term benefits. Evaluate outcomes to guide paediatric interventions, emphasizing adherence. Explore light’s interaction with ocular tissues, mechanisms of LLLT, and effects of polarised light in myopia control.
  • 10. Understand the clinical applications of WAVE software in Ortho-K and scleral lens fitting. Learn to interpret topography and ocular surface data to guide lens selection and optimize patient outcomes. Apply practical strategies for integrating WAVE software into routine clinical practice.
  • 11. Understand corneal rigid lens anatomy and gain confidence in topography-based lens design. Differentiate corneal data instruments and apply insights clinically. Develop long-term management strategies for OrthoK wearers. Learn the causes of higher-order aberrations (HOAs), identify candidates for HOA control, and apply aberration management techniques in rigid lens design.
  • 2. Identify suitable candidates for orthokeratology and select appropriate pre-fitting tests. Apply strategies for selecting, and customising orthokeratology lenses, and extending the use of standard designs. Analyse and troubleshoot complex orthokeratology fittings to achieve optimal outcomes. Implement approaches to enhance patient comfort, safety, and long-term satisfaction with orthokeratology.
  • 6. Explore challenges in adult myopia monitoring. Use WAVE software for topography analysis and lens design. Educate patients with visuals to explain risks and control options. Learn how spectacle lenses aid management and integrate with other treatments. Review OCT/AI metrics for clinical use. Examine RLRL therapy evolution, trials, and potential. Get updates on regional treatments and next year’s priorities and strategies.
  • 7. What is ZEST. When to use ZEST. What to do after ZEST.
  • 8. To understand regulatory and legal guidelines applying to ortho-k and myopia management options. To understand how to avoid complaints and more serious problems associated with ortho-k fitting.
