Activity Outline

The doctors at Outlook Eye Specialists are excited to host our annual Super Sunday Optometry Conference. Featuring great speakers, practical talks and practice enhancing dialogue. The meeting aims to provide maximal CPD points and is heavily subsidised to provide excellent value! Network with colleagues and faculty and take your knowledge and practice to the next level. Benefit from clinical pearls, tips and tricks shared by our expert speakers. The talks and experience are geared to allow knowledge use immediately.

Learning Objectives

  • 1. Recognise the importance of detailed medical history 2. Identify the clinical presentation of common retinal toxicities 3. Screen for common toxicities 4. Gain awareness of the clinical presentation of less common retinal toxicities
  • 1. Understand the optical issues caused by keratoconus 2. Appreciate the spectrum of optical and surgical treatments available 3. Understand how different corneal layers can be targeted to improve the optics in keratoconic corneas 4. Appreciate the role of corneal collagen cross linking and the available adjunctive treatments
  • 1. Determine benign from malignant eye and adnexal tumours 2. Know the signs that there has been a recurrence after treatment 3. Outline a structured approach to treatment
  • 1. Gain an understanding of the range of conditions attended to by ophthalmologists and the various subspecialties 2. Review the clinical approach to a variety of ophthalmic presentations 3. Refresh understanding of triaging ophthalmic emergencies
  • 1. Gain an awareness of the various retinal conditions which can mimic glaucomatous visual field changes 2. Utilise the OCT RNFL and macula ganglion cell scans to assess for the likelihood of non-glaucomatous optic nerve damage 3. Have a framework for approaching treatment decisions in patients with ocular hypertension
  • 1. Update understanding of the complications that can arise from hyperopia 2. Revise the complications that can arise from myopia 3. Review the incidence of ametropia
  • 1. Classify ARMD based on examination and imaging 2. Identify features of ARMD on multimodal imaging and the updated nomenclature 3. Gain awareness of the current and upcoming treatment options available
  • 1. Understand the causation of ocular pain 2. Outline a structured approach to treatment of ocular pain 3. Know when to refer patients
  • 1. Understand PVD stages and OCT grading 2. Understand OCT based grading of ERMs, FTMHs and VMTs 3. Gain awareness of common errors in OCT interpretation
  • 1. Understand the relative importance of various components of the eye to refractive calculations 2. Understand disease states that alter refractive precision 3. Have an overview of the full spectrum of the surgical refractive options available to patients and their relative accuracy and precision
  • 1. Understand the time course relationship to loss of vision 2. Thorough diagnostic algorithm to transient loss of vision 3. When to refer and investigate transient loss of vision
