Activity Outline

A full day education event with a focus on paediatric ophthalmology conditions. This masterclass is delivered by the orthoptic and ophthalmic specialists of the Queensland Children's Hospital Ophthalmology Department and aims to provide specialised paediatric ophthalmology education to all community optometrists, orthoptists, ophthalmic registrars, residents, nurses and students.

This full day event will be offered in-person at the Queensland Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane, and concurrently online via Microsoft Teams. Sessions will run from 9:00am-4:00pm and comprise of a range of topics including:

Papilloedema vs Pseudopapilloedema, Dr Shuan Dai

When to prescribe glasses – refractive errors in children, Dr Phillipa Sharwood

Acute strabismus, Dr Lily Ooi

Non-organic vision loss, Michael Sleep

Red eyes and red flags, Dr Michael Barkley

Retinal conditions not to miss, Dr Leanie Lesson

Paediatric Low Vision - Beyond the Vision Functions, Jit Ale Magar (PhD) 

Conservative management of epiphora and chalazia, Jeremy Veal
