Activity Outline
'Retinal OCTs and Their Urgency' will be delivered by Dr Lewis Lam (Vitreoretinal Specialist) at the Eye Specialist Institute clinic in Varsity Lakes on select Tuesday evenings in May and June.
These small group workshops to discuss retinal OCTs, interpreting their urgency, and guidance on when to refer are designed to be highly interactive, allowing for direct engagement between the facilitator and attendees, and open discussion.
Each workshop is expected to host up to 10 Optometrists and be delivered over 110 minutes with dinner and drinks provided.
Learning Objectives
- Interpret OCTs from first principles, identifying pertinent retinal layers
- Identify the layer of the retinal bleeds, and the importance of being able to do so
- Recognise which cases are urgent to refer, and the ones that can wait
- Identify sight-threatening OCTs
- Understand the subtleties of which retinal cases require surgery, and which ones may not
- Recognise complex retinal cases which they may encounter in the community
