Activity Outline
Skye Cappuccio, CEO of Optometry Australia will outline the 2018 Optometry 2040 report, and progress made since. She will overview the current context and landscape for optometry, leading to the Revisiting Optometry 2040 project in 2023, and then, together with Niki and key members of the Optometry Australia Optometry Advancement team, lead discussions to identify what has changed since the original report and reinforce what we need to do individually and as a profession to take control of our future. This workshop will be delivered via a combination of didactic lecture and interactive discussion.
Learning Objectives
- Refresh understanding of the Optometry 2040 report and progress made since 2018 to achieve the identified preferred futures for yourself, the sector and broader community eye health needs.
- Contribute to the development of a broader understanding of the current context and landscape of health care, eye health and optometry in Australia, identifying technological, economic, political and demographic trends shaping the future of the sector.
- Consider ways in which Optometry Australia and our members can work together to achieve our preferred future, and to future-proof your practice and the broader profession.
