Learning Objectives

• Discuss the postoperative course and care for patients following cataract surgery and retinal surgery
• Identify problems and complications in the early postoperative period and appropriate management
• Identify problems and complications occurring in the late postoperative period and their management
• Navigate the postoperative refraction with following premium IOL implantation and understand the likely outcomes for EDOF and multifocal IOL
• Establish collaborative care for the surgical patients and know which clinical signs may warrant urgent referral to an ophthalmologist
• Diagnose uveitis- key clinical features, systematic approach to classifying differentiating the aetiology
• Review the use of multimodal imaging and diagnostic tools in identifying uveitis and differentiating between various aetiologies
• Manage uveitis – discuss treatment options based on type and cause, outline the principles of medical management, systemic therapy, biologics or targeted treatment
• Know the complications and long-term prognosis of uveitis
• Understand cataract surgery in uveitis patients – preoperative considerations, surgical approach and postoperative management
• Provide an update on novel therapies and advances in uveitis treatment
