Membership Fees for 2021-2022

Optometry Western Australia membership renewals will be due by the 30th June 2021.  OWA have on offer the 12 monthly instalment payment plan, with no administration fee and so you can budget your membership renewal in 12 equal instalments.   The option to defer until October is no longer available so you will need to make your selection to pay in full or opt for the instalment by the renewal date of the 30th June 2021.

Optometry WA will issue membership renewal communication commencing 20th May detailing the 2021-2022 renewals across all membership categories including full-time, part-time, minimal practice and recent graduate memberships.

 

 

 

Optometry WA Renewal Option

You can renew online when you access your Optometry Australia Member Hub and generate your invoice with EFT details or credit card link for payment in full.

If paying by instalment is preferred, then please select this option and have your credit card handy to enter your details in to the system.

The first payment will be taken at the time of renewing and the next will be automatically debited from your nominated credit card on the 1st of each month, commencing the 1st August through to the 1st June 2022.

If you need to update your credit card details during the 12 months, please call the OWA office to action

How do I renew?

  • Log in to your OA Member Hub
  • Click on My Membership Tab top left & then Membership
  • Select the Renew Button
  • Select your membership category for 2021-2022
  • Check your inbox* for your Membership Renewal Confirmation
  • You can downgrade or upgrade your membership category during 2021-2022**

* Check your junk inbox as well for emails from Optometry Australia
** Changes to membership must be for any permanent change to hours worked per week

 

 

 

 

Full Time Membership

Category Definition

  • Registered with AHPRA
  • Practising 16 hours or more per week
  • Option to pay in full or over 12 monthly instalments

Part Time Membership

Category Definition

  • Registered with AHPRA
  • Practising more than 4 hours and up to 16 hours per week
  • Option to pay in full or over 12 monthly instalments

  • Registered with AHPRA
  • Practising between 0 and 4 hours per week
  • Option to pay in full or over 12 monthly instalments

Recent Graduate Membership

Category Definition

  • Registered with AHPRA
  • Practising between full or part time hours (opt for which apply)
  • Your previous membership category will have been Immediate Graduate
  • This membership category is already discounted to $1755
  • Option to pay in full or over 12 monthly instalments

Immediate Graduate Membership – New Membership

Category Definition

  • Registered with AHPRA
  • Members practising during the first six months following completion of an optometry degree
  • Your previous membership category will have been Student or not a member
  • This membership category offers 6 months free membership until Dec 31st 2021
  • You then will be moved to the Recent Graduate category for the last 6 months
  • Payment options for Jan to June 2022 can be arranged on request

Retired Membership

Category Definition  

  • Retired
  • Not registered and retired from practice
  • There is no current Professional Indemnity Insurance associated with this membership as you will have your run off cover since retired from practicing.
  • There is no fee associated with this membership category

Academic Membership – New for 2020

Category Definition

  • Eligible for registration to practice
  • Engaged in full time research, teaching, or both
  • Practising optometry between 4 & no more than 16 hours per week
  • Option to pay in full or over 12 monthly instalments

Optometry WA – Membership Fees 2021 – 2022

 

Category Definition
There has been no increase in the fees since 2018

  • $2195  Full Time: Practicing more than 16hrs per week.
  • $1760 Part Time: Practicing between 4 & 16hrs per week.
  • $1195  Minimal Practice: Practicing between 0 & 4hrs per week or registered but not practicing in Australia for variety of reasons: maternity leave, study leave, overseas travel, sick leave or current Australian COVID-19 restrictions.
  • $1760  Academic –Eligible for registration to practice. Engaged in full time research, teaching or both. Practising optometry between 4 and 16 hours per week.

Category Definition

 

  • $1755   Recent Graduate: Practicing full or part time and you are currently in the Immediate Graduate category.
  • $0.00  Immediate Graduate: Practicing during the first six months following completion of an optometry degree – apply online as a new member and the first 6 months of this membership category is free & on renewal at 6 months, you will moved into the Recent Graduate (Jan to Jun) Category.
  • $0.00 Retired
