Learning Objectives

  • To explain the conditions in which +0.50 reading glasses will not aid a patient
  • To familiarise attendees on expected findings for binocular vision tests used with children.
  • To demonstrate the testing required for accurate diagnosis of symptoms and signs in paediatric case studies.
  • To educate attendees on appropriate treatments for patients with tracking abnormalities and explain how to administer and teach these to the patient and patient parents.
  • To educate attendees on appropriate treatments for patients with binocular vision abnormalities and explain how to administer and teach these to the patient and patient parents.
  • To educate attendees on appropriate treatments for patients with accommodation abnormalities and explain how to administer and teach these to the patient and patient parents
  • To analyse case studies of paediatric patients and identify pathological flags
  • To understand the prognosis of common paediatric eye pathologies
  • To elucidate appropriate referral timing and chain based on presentation of a patient
