An Interactive Case Discussion: Glaucoma Management

Join us at Peppers Silo, Launceston for light refreshments and drinks while enjoying an interactive evening on glaucoma management in a collaborative setting from a panel of local ophthalmologists and optometrists.

This will include a discussion on SLT, MIGS and glaucoma surgery as well as a number of complex cases such as aqueous misdirection, aggressive PXF and patients with multiple or dual pathologies.

Meet the speakers:

Mr Damon Hannay
B AppSci (Optom) Honours, Grad Cert (Ocular Therapeutics)

Damon has been an optometry Director at Specsavers Launceston for the last 8 years leading a large team of Optometrists. He has special interests in Glaucoma and complex contact lens fitting and is a keen advocate in supporting optometrists to work to their full scope for these conditions.

He is actively involved in collaborative glaucoma care and is continually working with the professions to optimize patient care

Dr Dean Cugley
MBBS FRANZCO

Dr Dean Cugley is a General Ophthalmologist at Launceston Eye Institute. He completed his Ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital before undertaking further fellowship training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

 

Mr Luke Burns
B. Optom, Advanced Certificate in Glaucoma

Luke graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2012 and has since worked across a range of practices and locations, including in several collaborative care programs in glaucoma while at the Australian College of Optometry in Melbourne.

He currently works at Bupa Optical in Hobart and as a consultant optometrist in the Low Vision Clinic at Royal Hobart Hospital. He is also an Optometry Tasmania board member.

 

Dr Robin Abell
FRANZCO

Dr Robin Abell practices in general ophthalmology and cataracts with a subspeciality interest in Cornea and Laser Refractive Surgery. Dr Abell completed his Ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital followed by subspeciality fellowship training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery.

He has a special interest in laser vision correction, Fuchs Dystrophy, Keratoconus and applying preventative strategies to avoid loss of vision in corneal disease, Dr Abell is highly skilled in modern techniques of corneal transplantation.

Dr Tze’yo Toh
M.B.B.S (Tas), MMedSci (Tas), FRANZCO

Dr Toh is a local UTAS graduate. After completing his training in New Zealand and a glaucoma fellowship in Melbourne, he returned to Launceston in 2010. Dr Toh has had extensive experience with MIGS procedures after he carried out the first iStent implant in Tasmania in 2014.

 

 

Dr David McKay
M.B, B.S. (NSW), FRANZCO

Dr David McKay is a Vitreoretinal Specialist with a special interest in disease and surgery of the retina and vitreous.
