DOVS 2025: Seeing Beyond: Envisaging the Future of Optometry

You are invited to join the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences on Monday 8th September for its second 2025 Seeing Beyond event, “Envisaging the Future of Optometry”. This event will feature a plenary lecture about expanding the scope of optometric practice and education from Professor Blair Lonsberry, who is visiting from the Pacific University College of Optometry in Portland, Oregon, United States. We will then hear about the latest groundbreaking research that could change the future of optometry from three of our emerging leaders and clinician-scientists (Dr Ching Yi Wu, Dr Selwyn Prea, Dr Pei Ying Lee) - from improving tear analysis, to using artificial intelligence in electronic record keeping and teaching, to neurological disease biomarkers - followed by a panel discussion hosted by Dr Bao Nguyen, Senior Research Fellow. Following the presentations, you are invited to stay for light refreshments, view posters showcasing recent work by our Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences, and speak directly to some of our researchers and academics who are leading the future of optometry.
