Learning Objectives

  • as a result of attending this session the participant will be able to better be able to diagnose pre-prolferative and proliferative retinopathy and know when to refer for treatment.
  • as a result of attending this session the participant will be able to better be able to counsel patients as to treatments for PDR: laser vs long term ant VEGF vs possible vitrectomy if tractional bands are present.
  • as a result of attending this session the participant will be able to better be able to diagnose macular oedema from diabetes and know when to refer and guide patients as to what may be expected in terms of treatment. Full coverage of clinical, OCT, angiographic appearance of DME along with treatment applied ie anti-VEGF,( types, duration, response etc ), laser etc
  • as a result of attending this session the participant will be able to better able to understand the various types of retinal vascular occlusions, know which should be monitored or escalated for treatment, the various types of treatments and the broad prognosis when referring patients.
  • as a result of attending this session the participant will be able to better be able to diagnose posterior uveitis and broadly seperate infective from non infective causes and know when to refer and what treatments may be given and visual prognosis for some.
  • as a result of attending this session the participant will be able to better understand that macular CNV’s are not only age related but can happen in Myopic patients and in inflammatory conditions. Slides with case histories to be presented. Treatment options to be discussed and particularly the role of antiVEGF
