Activity Outline

Activity Outline

Glaucoma remains one of the leading causes of irreversible vision loss worldwide, and timely recognition and management are essential in optometric practice. This CPD webinar, presented by Dr Braden Meiklejohn as part of the Vision for Life Institute Webinar Series, will use real-world case studies to explore the practical aspects of glaucoma care.

The session will highlight key considerations in diagnosis, monitoring, and referral, with a focus on applying clinical reasoning to complex presentations. Participants will review the role of imaging, visual fields, and risk factor assessment in guiding management, and discuss collaborative approaches with ophthalmology to optimise patient outcomes.

Through interactive case discussions, attendees will strengthen their confidence in identifying glaucoma, recognising progression, and applying evidence-based strategies in day-to-day practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognise key clinical signs of glaucoma and differentiate between common presentations using case-based examples.
  • Interpret structural and functional test results (including OCT and visual fields) to support diagnosis and monitoring.
  • Apply clinical reasoning to determine when referral, co-management, or treatment escalation is appropriate.
  • Enhance patient communication and collaborative care, ensuring patients are supported through ongoing glaucoma management.
