Optometry Australia today announces that Chief Executive Officer, Skye Cappuccio, will step down from her role at the end of 2025 after more than a decade of service to the organisation, including the past three years as CEO.

Optometry Australia President, Theo Charalambous, said, ‘We are immensely grateful for everything Skye has done for the organisation and our members. She has been a strong advocate for the profession, integrally involved in securing the removal of the Medicare fee cap and new Medicare items, and has overseen the evolution and expansion of valued services for members. Most recently, she has guided the operational integration of three state divisions with national operations, enhancing efficiency and maximising value for members.’

‘Optometry Australia has a passionate, skilled and experienced staff, and is in a strong position as we begin the process of recruiting our next CEO,’ said Mr Charalambous.

Ms Cappuccio said, ‘It’s been a privilege to work with such a dedicated team and for such a dedicated profession.’

With a strong team and clear direction in place, Optometry Australia is well positioned to continue delivering for members and advancing the profession. Together, we look forward to building on this momentum and shaping the future of optometry in Australia.
