An updated Schedule of Recommended Consultation Fees is now available to members on Optometry Australia’s website.

Optometry Australia updates its recommended fee list annually in accordance with the Health Consumer Price Index.

National clinical policy adviser Simon Hanna said that given the freeze on the optometry Medicare rebates is likely to continue, now is an appropriate time for optometry practice owners to review their practice billing methods and consider private billing.

Mr Hanna said the Schedule of Recommended Consultation Fees is not compulsory to use as practice location, local competitors and patient demographics may affect consultation fee setting.
