Members are reminded to speak to their patients about glaucoma as part of World Glaucoma Week and raise awareness that the disease can run in families.

Optometrists can host their own B.I.G. Breakfast during World Glaucoma Week to raise money for glaucoma awareness. Register on the B.I.G. Breakfast website. World Glaucoma Week finishes on 12 March.

To keep members informed and up to date with best practice in glaucoma, Optometry Australia has dedicated the March 2016 issue of Pharma to the early detection and treatment of glaucoma. This issue of Pharma also offers members therapeutic CPD points for the first time, in an online module.

Optometry Australia and Glaucoma Australia signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2015 to work together in collaborative care of patients with glaucoma.

Patients diagnosed with glaucoma can be referred to Glaucoma Australia for free education, support and specific eye-drop instillation training. Visit the Glaucoma Australia website.
