Optometry Australia welcomes John Palassis to its board.

John, who has been an optometrist for 32 years, replaces newly-appointed Chair Darrell Baker as the WA representative on the Optometry Australia Board.

‘We are delighted to welcome John, who has wide optometry experience and is passionate about the sector,’ CEO Lyn Brodie said.

John, a joint owner of Vision West in Karrinyup, WA, said he was looking forward to the challenge.

‘I really do love what I do. Optometry Australia has always been very supportive and I would like to give something back to the sector that has given me so much over my career,’ he said.

‘I want to do my bit in ensuring a strong and relevant professional association to benefit future generations of optometrists.’

John is a Bachelor of Optometry graduate of the University of New South Wales (1987), has a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics from UNSW and Fellowships from the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

John is also a member of Optometry Western Australia’s Board, appointed at the organisation’s annual general meeting on 24 October, 2018.
