Optometry Australia is calling for expressions of interest for the fourth intake of its Student Leadership Program.

There are 20 places available for the program which will be hosted via a virtual platform from 7 February to 20 March 2022. All optometry students are invited to express their interest in participating.

Hear a few words from our 2021 Student Leadership Program alumni:

Running over a 6-week period, the 2022 program will be an adaption of Thilan Legierse’s Hardwired for Leadership program and is tailored specifically for emerging leaders within the optometry profession. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to engage with their fellow peers throughout Australia, and to be identified as emerging leaders within our sector.

It will explore topics such as:

  • Understanding you
  • Becoming the leader you want to be
  • How to connect with and lead others
  • How to create collaborative and high performing teams
  • How to identify and fine-tune the vision
  • How to lead change

The program will conclude with a full-day summit hosted online which will involve two masterclasses, each focusing on applying learned skills directly relevant to optometry, as well as networking sessions with both program participants and senior leaders from across the optometry sector.

How to apply

Applications are due by Friday 26 November 2021. Interested students are invited to draft a brief one-page application, responding to the below questions:
