OV/SA Award details and categories 2024

Nominations are now open for Optometry Victoria South Australia’s 2024 Rising Star, Optometrist of the Year and Life Member Awards. These Awards recognise OV/SA members who go above and beyond for their patients, their peers, and their profession across all stages of their career.

Nominations must be received before 5 July 2024.

The OV/SA Awards are presented across three categories:

The Rising Star Award, is given to an optometrist in the first ten years of their career who has displayed excellence in innovation, academic publishing, community outreach, or otherwise distinguished themselves.

The Optometrist of the Year Award, recognises a member who, particularly in the last year, has made an outstanding contribution to the optometry profession through innovation, initiative, or exceptional demonstrated care.

The Life Member Award, is given to a member who has demonstrated passion and commitment over the course of a distinguished career. While formerly given only to members who had unbroken member records, the criteria was last year refreshed to accommodate different career paths.

Nominations are now open
If you believe you or someone you know is eligible and deserving of one of these three awards in 2024, complete the appropriate nomination form above and return it to Lyn Hsieh at office.vicsa@optometry.org.au before 5 July 2024. For inspiration, read about the 2023 OV/SA Award winners here.

Award recipients and details of the awards presentation ceremony will be announced on 9 September 2024.
