Advanced Practice Recognition in optometry: A crucial step towards 2040

As part of Optometry Australia’s efforts to realise its preferred future for optometry in 2040, significant steps have been taken towards establishing an Advanced Practice Recognition (APR) program in optometry, aiming to recognise and credential optometrists with demonstrated expertise in particular clinical areas, starting with glaucoma management.

Congratulations Janelle Scully, winner of the 2023 Optometry Connection Case Report and Clinical Image Award

The Victorian optometrist and Manager of Ocular Disease and Diagnostic Services at the Australian College of Optometry was recently announced as the winner of the award, including $1000 prize, for her case report ‘Acute sixth cranial nerve palsy in primary eye optometry’. Janelle recently talked to us about the process of writing the case report.
