Optometry Australia has released its 2016–2017 Annual Report.
The report highlights Optometry Australia’s core role to lead, engage and promote optometry, optometrists and community eye health and vision care.
The organisation does this in various ways through advocacy, submissions and collaboration within the Australian health care sector.
National President Andrew Hogan highlights that the organisation succeeded in getting the freeze on rebates lifted in 2019, one year ahead of schedule, noting that the organisation’s advocacy work continues to be highly valued by members.
Major achievements detailed in the report also include the launch of six new online portals to simplify member access to personal and professional information, including membership renewal, CPD record, conference and events registration, and online store purchases.
Mr Hogan also pays tribute to former CEO Genevieve Quilty, who left the organisation in February 2017 after a five-year term as CEO.
