Optometrists Association national director Kate Johnson and Dr Paul Gifford took on the 40th Berlin Marathon on 29 September, on the way to the American Academy of Optometry’s annual meeting in Seattle.

They are pictured after the marathon with their finishers medals and glasses of Erdinger Alkoholfrei, a non-alcoholic beer that is marketed as a vitamin and electrolyte drink.

Dr Gifford, an adjunct senior lecturer at the School of Optometry and Vision Science, University of New South Wales, will be presenting a poster at the academy meeting, and Brisbane practice owner Ms Johnson will be speaking.
