Ophthalmic photographer Chris Barry was today announced the winner of the health-care category in the Macular Disease Foundation Australia annual mEye World Photographic Competition.

Entrants were judged by photographer Ken Duncan and Australian of the Year 2013 Ita Buttrose, and awards were made in four categories: general public, health-care professionals, macular disease community and junior.

The overall winner, Denis Fitzgerald, won a prize worth more than $7,000.

The winners are:

Open (General Public): Denis Fitzgerald, Golden Square VIC

Health-care Professionals: Chris Barry, Sorrento WA

Macular Disease Community: M Honeybun, Perth WA

Junior (Under 18): Josh Nicol, Ruby VIC
