Website Medicine X has created an app to explain presbyopia to patients.

Through animated storytelling, it explains presbyopia based on the experience of a real patient.

The patient in the story is Penny and through her, the app explains ageing eyes, the role of an optometrist, and the options for vision correction, including spectacles and contact lenses.

The app was created in collaboration with Optometry Australia, and the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia, and was sponsored by Alcon, a division of Novartis.

Medicine X has also created an app to explain diabetic macular oedema. It was launched in November last year.

Presbyopia Xplained is available online at www.presbyopiaxplained.com.au or can be ordered on a USB.
