Secure electronic messaging provides a way for you to share private patient information with a GP, specialist or optometry colleague efficiently and without security concerns. The first step is to learn more about what secure messaging is and how it works.

It provides a way for you to send referrals, letters, results and images, straight from your computer where they are stored, without interference or inception.

An Optometrists Association survey this year of more than 830 optometrists showed most share information with GPs at least weekly and many do so daily. Most are still communicating the good old-fashioned way, via letter.

Secure electronic messaging is the way of the near future. The Australian Government has been encouraging its uptake among GPs and in some regions, it has becoming standard practice. Click here to learn more about this relatively simple process.
