US speakers Dr Jeffry Gerson and Dr Marc Bloomenstein were popular and warmly welcomed by their audience at SRC. Delegates flocked around Dr Gerson and Dr Bloomenstein during the meal breaks, taking advantage of the ‘Meet the Speaker’ opportunity on the Optometrists Association exhibition stand.

‘Both Jeffry and Marc were generous with their time, on and off the stage, and enjoyed lots of interaction with delegates, making for a feel-good conference,’ Victoria Division CEO Terri Smith said.
She said Southern Regional Congress attracted 924 delegates, and 50 exhibitors at the Trade Expo. This year the conference also incorporated a Careers Expo for future optometry graduates from the University of Melbourne and Deakin University.
Registrants attended from every state and territory. Victoria had the strongest attendance with 61 per cent, followed by NSW with 16 per cent. Six per cent came from New Zealand, and delegates also attended from Cambodia, Kenya and Singapore.
