To inspire applicants to apply for this award in 2024, we caught up with Ceecee who is co-leading a University of Melbourne program using advanced genomic sequencing to diagnose rare retinal diseases.

A new OV/SA Looking Outward on Optometric Knowledge (LOOK) Local Scholarship has been established to facilitate Australian-based study tours for an OV/SA financial member. The Scholarship is intended to directly improve eye health of local communities throughout Victoria and South Australia.

Come August 2024, South Australian optometrist Christina Ly will travel to the USA and Canada with a mission that is close to her heart – to explore accessible and sustainable models of eye care delivery for refugees. This opportunity comes as a result of receiving the Dr Dorothea Sandars and Irene Lee Churchill Fellowship in late 2023.

A few years later, Samuel is the Deakin University OV/SA Student Award winner for optometry, and now he’s looking forward to merging his passions for research and optometry together.
