Optometry Australia is calling for expressions of interest from optometrists who have a special interest in glaucoma care for a Community of Practise and Education.
Optometry Australia remains committed to supporting practitioners and improving community access to eye care. Following the publication of our Glaucoma Care into Practice guide, we are convening a new Community of Practise and Education.
Members interested in developing clinical and business confidence, peer to peer support and increasing glaucoma care in their practice are especially encouraged to apply.
This is a pilot initiative to create clinical and business support from peers who are facing similar challenges. The group will consist of a small number of experienced clinicians already engaging in glaucoma care in their practice, and clinicians who wish to increase either the number of glaucoma patients seen in their practice or improve their collaborative care relationships with local practitioners.
The group will have virtual meetings across the course of two years designed to foster support, mentorship and glaucoma education in evidence-based practise.
We are looking to speak to Optometry Australia members who:
- Are interested in expanding their glaucoma care and wish to have mentorship and support; or
- Are experienced clinicians keen to participate in a group of engaged optometrists passionate about glaucoma care;
- Have the desire and capacity to enact change in their practice;
- Have a special interest in glaucoma care.
How to apply
The group will meet virtually, and we especially encourage rural and regional practitioners and those already participating in shared care arrangements to apply.
If you are interested in applying, please email c.haines@optometry.org.au with your name, practice location and member number before close of business 10 January 2022.
