#BreakTheBias survey finds high levels of gender bias and aggressive behaviour in optometry workplaces

The results of a survey conducted by Optometry Australia in March 2022 has revealed that 64% of the 320 members who responded, had experienced, encountered or witnessed gender bias, discrimination, harassing and/or aggressive behaviour in the workplace. Almost a third of all respondents feared speaking out against this type of behaviour.

Pressure increases on optometry as Medicare indexation fails to keep up with CPI

From 1 July 2022, the Australian Government has announced an indexation increase for optometry items of 1.6%. With Medicare indexation well below CPI and inflation, Optometry Australia will press to discuss fairer Medicare indexation with Mark Butler, Federal Minister for Health.
